• Went to a wedding reception here. All the staff were under 20 years old, including the person in charge of organising this type of event. Alot of the staff were dressed in a very shabby manner (untucked etc). The food ran out half way through the reception (it was served on the plates, not buffet - so how can you run out?). Add to that, the food was not very good anyway! Our table had one place setting missing and it took ages for them to put it right, with one of our party having to kneel on the floor! The champagne reception never happened! When questioned by the groom, one of the young staff said they (Melbourne House) had decided not to provide it, so the groom could save some money!!!!!!!! It took them three hours to serve 70 people, some had finished before others had even started. Soft drinks given to guests in 59p multipack cans not glasses. Filthy mildew on the windows... Some of our party stayed overnight (others couldnt because Melbourne House had double booked them, and turned them away!). Those that stayed said they had trouble finding any staff to prepare breakfast on the following morning, and when they finally got it, they said it was inedible (and that includes the toast!) The list goes on and on and on. I notice that on some other sites, this place had actually got good reviews... these can only be ones which have been made up by friends of the staff, because there is no way that anyone could think this place is marvelous.

• Avoid this place at all costs, never experience such incompetent management in all my life. Booked a spa weekend to be told had been cancelled on our arrival. Promised refund...never happened. Spent two weeks trying to contact manager to arrange refund. Sent cheque for refund which bounced. Out of pocket £105 and now impossible to contact manager. If you want a relaxing break...go anywhere but here!

• Lack of hygiene Poor service Definitely poor value and quality of food. Do not eat there!!
