• I have been to this pub several times. On each occasion the landlord has been the least hospitable I have ever met and the food poor. It is not children he dislikes but the entire human race

• Dominic is an idiot, A pub should be a refuge from noisy little kids. Take them to Disneyland or some other place for little kids, you jerk.

• What a shame. Such a lovely pub, but food and hosting are such a disappointment. Over priced as well. We were the only people eating there for a sunday lunch, so that tells a sorry story. Would not go back

• We agree with Alex in his previous review - you want free-range children, turkey twizzlers on the menu, over-priced lager-style beers? - fine, just find a Hungry Horse and leave old-fashioned pubs that haven't changed to those who like a bit of character. Been coming here for 35 years and if we lived nearer, we'd never be away. Real fires, cask beer, comfort, no games machines nor Sky Sports - wonderful, long may it continue to trade, based on the real values which are obviously dear to the hearts of Chris and Peter.

• Fabulous pub, full of history and in a beautiful village. Beers well kept and atmosphere local and friendly. Completely and refreshingly unpretentious. It seems to know its market and part of that means not allowing in young kids. They're v welcome in the outside spaces. Which got a thumbs up from us.

• Nice pub, shame about the landlords. They have a 1970s attitude to families, only allowing children over 14. It's rather a joke that they claim to be the hub of the Cilcain community, whilst barring a significant proportion of that community.

• A lovely old pub, in the wrong hands. Less than average beer, not much choice and fish and chips obviously pulled out of the freezer. Could have made better at home.
