• we don't understand the poor reviews for staff rudeness, we have always found all staff to be friendly. Food is always first class and cooked fresh. Perhaps it might be the attitude of customers towards staff that needs addressing.

• Visited today for lunch pretty much all 1/2star ratings accurate.food okay but bar staff had attitude and waitress beliligerant shame because excellent spot and you would not go back

• Shockingly rude and resentful staff. Can not cope with customers or have any idea about customer service. The staff are easily flustered by any group bigger than 4. Such a shame as it is a lovely place and I hoped I would be proved wrong when word of mouth went around but unfortunately not. I shall not be going again as there are many far more welcoming pubs in the surrounding area with cheerful non-offensive staff. Locals don't appear welcome, the nearby prison staff are not welcome and visitors are not welcome. Who is welcome? The staff should all be sacked. Poor management and poor service.

• Had lunch today at The Wheatsheaf. Food was excellent, service was great and staff very friendly. We will definitely return.

• We've been several times since its been taken over and we are high standards about where we go, we've had breakfasts and lunches and also plant to have an evening meal at some point. The owners and staff have always been friendly and welcoming so I don't really understand the previous comments. The food has also been very good. As for dogs, we've taken ours and sat in the garden, there is always fresh water for them. Personally I think they are right not to allow dogs inside as food is served in both sections.

• we have eaten at the wheatsheaf today 14 July 2013. it was really good,I had steak and ale pie with new potatoes and veg it was excellent my wife had the haddock with chips and salad and that was excellent,we walked from graffham water,ate and walked back .we planned this as we had been there two weeks ago and biked all around Graffham water and ate at the wheatsheaf then and it was excellent so we went back,there is a big sign outside the pub with a menu for dogs and the promise of a bowl of anglian water,today there was 5 dogs in the garden and the last time there must have been 8 or 9.now I do not know if they allow them inside the pub or not but they are welcome in the garden,mind you if they were in the pub we would give it a miss anyway,we have been in bars and restaurants in France where dogs are allowed inside and we do not like it.

• Went last night and found the staff to be friendly. Morris dancers were welcomed and a puppy was sat at the bar with his owner. Not hint of the unfriendliness mentioned in other reviews. Has it changed hands again?

• Staff are rude and are not made for jobs involving customer service. They treat staff from the near by prison as second rate customers and do not welcome their custom. Food is below average.... when we're eventually served as we are made to wait for 'proper' customers to be served first. Shame they cut off a large customer basis, will spread tr words amongst colleagues.

• Lousy pub, staff and menu. Not worth a visit. Shame it doesn't have proper pub appeal and atmosphere. Bring Bob back!!!!!

• This pub is in the country and on a major walking route and the new owners have decided not to allow dogs in - rude and arrogant, you walk 9 miles, it's freezing and your tired dog who will just fall asleep under the table isn't allowed in - I won't be going there again.

• I also agree the older members of staff were rude.the youngsters were friendly. Thought we,d give it a second go as it had new owners. They were even ruder than the previous owners. Food pretty awlful. Good location shame about the management.

• 31/08/2012 - Rude staff & made to feel very unwelcome. We thought it strange the pub was so quiet on a lovely sunny afternoon, but it soon became apparent why. We were at the start of our walk & had intended to return for an evening walk but quickly changed our minds. A word of advice to the weary walker or cyclist. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
