• Blatant attempt to defraud me of my change at Euston Station Upper Crust last Saturday 28th Dec 2019 at 7.15pm. Assistant took my £20 note, then said she needed to 'investigate' it as it might be fake, and needed to leave the premises to do it and would be back in 5 minutes. This is at a fast-food outlet when people have trains to catch. I was highly suspicious and asked for the note back, I would pay another way. She refused, saying she needed to check it and if the note was fake she would have to keep it. I continued to ask for the note back until a crowd had gathered, and then she did. Checking of notes should be carried out on site in full view of the customer, not elsewhere. I believe, if she had left the premises with my note, she would only have returned once I had been forced to leave to catch my train. Another assistant was also involved in this scam. I am over 70 and think she saw me as a soft target. Be warned!
