• Duffys.. Duffys... Well... I went to Duffys last night for a comedy night with a few friends. We paid £4 each so it we wernt expecting too much from it but I must say, it was certainly an experience. Unfortunately it was a great one. The gentleman (Host- Bobby I think his name was) didnt get it off to a great start with a very non-comedic attitude towards his regulations throughout the gig. I felt like I was back at school again the way he was lecturing as to how the crowd should behave. Then, a young lady sat on the arm of a chair to join her friends, and he continuosly asked her to sit behind on an empty seat- with strangers- to the point where he was telling her too, with no humour what so ever. The room was quiet and it dulled the already dull mood for the following act. I know that in these kinds of comedy evenings, you will get some pretty horendous train crashes in terms of acts, but there certainly were plenty last night. My opinion- 2 out of the 6 acts were funny, the rest were 'cringe merchants' that just were not getting the reaction. A Heckler in the croud getting 'Owned' by the final and best act made the night for me. So, to summarise- It is a good little venue but I think that the lady on the door, and 'Bobby' took it far too seriously and this created a climate for the rest of the evening. Not Climate you would expect in a comedy club. I'd go there again, to give it one more chance but anything over a fiver I'd be reluctant.
