• I have had a completely different experience dealing with Thomas Building Plans from the previous review. Simon has been engaging and reliable throughout the process of designing an extension. When we started out with nothing more than a basic idea of what we wanted, he took us through lots of potential options and was realistic and open with us in terms of cost and achieavability. Drawings were delivered on time, quality was excellent and everything was arranged for the planning application. When we subsequently changed our requirements slightly, revisions were made with minimal fuss. No issues from the builder either in terms of the quality of the drawings either. Happy to recommend.

• Bought plan & structural calculation services in July 2013. A very bad experience. Firstly no invoice/breakdown of services provided and no receipt for payment provided: had to chase for these to be sent to us. Plans were not completed within 2 weeks as advised (and as stated on the website) - plans actually took just over 3 weeks with structural calculations following a few days later. The plans were incorrect initially, and there was no apology when we asked for corrections to be made. No apology for the late completion. Three builders have since refused to quote for our building job based on the structural calculations provided by Thomas Building Plans and all three builders advised very strongly for us to get a second opinion on the work, stating that the use of steel was excessive and costly. We have had to employ a structural engineer to re-do the calculations for us. All calculations were for a very simple kitchen knock through in a normal sized terrace house in south Bristol.
