• Avoid Speedframe, Lincoln, like the plague! On the 16th June, I took a painting worth £40000 to get get framed and told Liz the manager of the gallery, this was an expensive painting and would extra care be taken, when being framed. A couple of days later, I received a call from the manager, informing me, that a SCREWDRIVER had been put through the canvas. As you may imaging my shock and horror, at being told. What the manager failed to tell me, that to cover up their recklessness, Speedframe, Lincoln, had applied an adhesive, with my approval. Is this a criminal act? I suggested to the gallery's owner, a Mr Stuart Alcock, to send the painting to Simon Gillespie's studio in London, to be restored. Several days ago, I had a call from Mr Gillespie, to tell me that the adhesive applied by the gallery, could not be removed and as a result, my painting has lost 15% of it's value. When I approached Stuart Alcock, he said he would not be prepared to offer me any compensation, apart from some free framing. I would never use Speed Frame, Lincoln again and would advise anyone thinking of doing so, to think again.
