• I would like to start with the fact that I am a loyal customer to the chain and have always enjoyed the food. However upon my visit on 2/11/13 at around 6:30pm. Once again the food was very good but the waiter spoiled the night for our party, leaving us all feeling quite uncomfortable. She came across and overheard our conversation about a business trip in Scotland, she then continued to interrupt our conversation and tell us about a trip she had to Scotland and continued to make comments that were quite offensive, ignorant and racist. She commented how she had met someone who was shockingly black, stopping to assure me (the only non-white member of the party) she wasn’t being racist, and continued to express her surprise that black people had regional accents as opposed to African or Caribbean accents. The whole party were all quite shocked by this opinion being expressed so openly, or even more so that some people had such a naïve opinion. I have always spoken highly of the Penn Miller and Carter, even more so of it compared to the Mailbox restaurant, however I will feel a little more reluctant to recommend the restaurant, unless it was to a member of the BNP or EDL who may feel a little more comfortable with the opinions that member/s of hold. I really cannot express my disappointment with this visit anymore. My partner found it quite upsetting that if we had brought our daughter tonight she would have been exposed to such racial comments.
