"The village of Anstey is within easy reach of the towns of Leicester and Loughborough and is known as the ?Gateway to Charnwood Forest?. Situated on the main through road to ?Bradgate Park ?The Hare? as it is fondly known by the locals is ideally situated as a much welcome refreshment point to recharge the batteries for the many visitors to ?Bradgate Park? and the enthusiastic walkers, cyclists and joggers that are always seen in the village.The 150 year old traditional pub of wooden beams and tiled floors looks at its best during the summer months with colourful hanging baskets and window boxes. Inside there are four separate and very different bar areas, serving our ?Cask Marque? recommended selection of permanent and guest real ales.With the pub being keen supporters of Leicester Tigers and sport in general Rupert ensures that coach transport is on time to get his many locals to ?Fortress Welford Road ?in plenty of time to cheer on the team.The interior of the pub is adorned with rugby and sporting memorabilia collected from around the world personally by Rupert throughout his travels supporting British sporting individuals and teams?The Hare? is run by the Gibbons family with Rupert ? the ex rugby player looking after the bar and Helen providing the quality pub food. Weekdays there is a fine bar menu served with offerings from sandwiches made to order to heartier dishes including steak "

• Rupert gibbons had the railway arms pub in kibworth and turned a thriving village pub into a laughing stock. Always short of beer , trying to sell out of date stock , the pub was dirty and smelly. Left owing staff money , and took money belonging to the locals. DO NOT trust this man.

• Oh yes! A proper traditional English pub. The type we are used to. Selling proper beer in original traditional surroundings. Jovial atmosphere and friendly People ooagh agh! gents darts team, a ladies darts team, Dominos, Karaoke/music night, Quiz night, Folk night, Sports, Rugby, Morris Dancers ask Rupert the Boss and good food. • Since the eighty's we have seen the true British Pubs disappear,it is very refeshing to see new Landlord Rupert Gibbons and family reintroducing traditional Pub activity's of the past {darts/dominoes/crib/quiz}etc,also new game Rock and Roll bingo. The old hare and hounds also offer's a excellent food menu. you will find Rupert's attempt to dance and sing questionable but worth observing. Incase you are wondering if he payed me enter these comments, [not yet].Greg.
