• Shame this shop doesn't know how to treat customers. Visited today with a friend and as soon as so got in the door I was asked "do you have a mask you can put on"? I have a hidden health condition that makes me exempt so this is discrimination under the Equality Act. I just said "I'm Exempt" and she responded "Oh". She should not have even asked me that. What if I was someone anxious or nervous who would not defend themselves. I was not going to buy anything, but needed a card. My friend made her purchase and when I went to get change out of my purse for the card the lady said "it's card only". I explained that cash is "legal tender". She said it's "shop policy". I again said "it's legal tender" and she responded by saying we're following Government guidelines. I said "exactly, they are guidelines, not Law. She had just touched and handed back my friend's debit card. She could not see what a double standard that was! I asked my friend when she last cleaned/anti bac her bank cards and she said she'd never done them. I asked her how long she'd had her card and she said "years". Do image how many viruses & bacteria are on that card. No different to cash. How ridiculous is that. I told her it was wrong. Won't be getting my business again. In fact I went on to another little shop and was not asked about a mask, was not made to feel bad about it, was made very welcome, accepted cash so I spent a lot of money in there. Not a great way to do business. Just for information, this is what the legislation says in part: When you do not need to wear a face covering: People who cannot put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical or mental illness or impairment, or disability. Because face coverings are mainly intended to protect others, not the wearer, from coronavirus (COVID-19) they are not a replacement for social distancing and regular hand washing. Exemption cards Those who have an age, health or disability reason for not wearing a face covering should not be routinely asked to give any written evidence of this, this includes exemption cards. No person needs to seek advice or request a letter from a medical professional about their reason for not wearing a face covering. Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign.
