We went to Nicolinos on a Saturday night in August 2012 for a family special occasion, we had previously attended Nicolinos about a month before and spoke to the staff about the table and between us decided on a table in the main area where there appears to be a good atmosphere (for four persons). The initial table we wanted (the booth) we were advised was only suitable for 3 people and having been there before where we were put almost out the back of the restaurant we wanted to make sure we had a decent table. When the lady wrote down the table number in the diary, we were one of about two tables that were in there that day so we had the pick of the tables. We received a phone call in the morning we were due to go to ask if we were still attending at 7.30 and on table 31. We could not remember the table number but duly phoned back and confirmed that we were still attending and presumed that we were still going to be seated at the table we had chosen. On getting to Nicolinos for 7.30 the restaurant was very busy and we could see that a table of six were sitting at the table we had booked. The staff told us we would be sitting in a different area than the one we'd chosen because they needed to fit a table of six in. We were very annoyed at this not only because they had moved us but to a completely different area where again there was no atmosphere. If I had not been with my family I would have walked out. The staff were not willing to assist in any way, we did get an apology but it was half hearted and they did offer us the booth which was now aid up for 4 people even though when we went in there initially the lady told us that it was too cramped for 4 persons!! As you can imagine because the evening started off with a complaint and had an impact on the evening - not to mention my family were embarrased as I made a point of complaining to the staff. I thought a nice gesture would have been to have given us a complimentary drink - but nothing was offered. We won't be going back there in a hurry - the staff really weren't interested.

BEWARE WHAT YOU ARE BEING SERVED
My wife and I dined in Nicolinos Saturday 18th Feb 2012.
We were seated in the upstairs room near a table of five other diners. Halfway through our starters the waiter(s) delivered the main meals to the other five diners. There was some confusion, a chicken dish had arrived that they had not ordered so one person who was having pizza had to wait. The others started eating. After a few more minutes the waiter arrived and delivered the pizza. He then took away a meal, half eaten, from one of the elderly lady diners and replaced it. They had obviously given her the wrong meal. We finished our starter and moments later our meals arrived. These looked suspiciously like the ones that we had seen earlier including the one that had been being eaten for five minutes. I asked the waiter if these were the meals that we had seen. He said they were not because ours were on round plates and theirs were on rectangular plates. A very strange thing for him to notice. THEY WERE OUR MEALS. I did not eat mine and informed the waiter that I would pay downstairs and would complain. I complained to the woman behind the counter and the waiters arrived whereby they all started talking to each other very animatedly. We received a very cursory apology, paid for our wine and what we had eaten and then left.
They had taken away the half eaten food and placed it on a different plate and served it up as fresh. It is absolutely unforgivable and appalling that they felt it ok to serve up a half eaten dinner. It is also very obvious that this is not the first time because they knew to put it on a different style plate, a clear attempt at trying to fool us. I sincerely hope that the lady who had started eating my dinner before it was given to me did not have any contagious illnesses. This may seem farfetched and to be quite honest I still find it hard to believe. I do not understand how these amateurish people think it is ok to carry out such unhygienic practices and ruin their customers nights out just to save themselves a few pounds. I would suggest that anybody choosing to eat there after reading of our experience would be very foolhardy. Do not lose sight of the fact that they knew what they were doing and had obviously carried out similar practices before. I wonder how many leftovers are recycled into new meals.

Good food, excellent service. With such large portions we would have liked more time between the first and second courses but overall good value and will visit again.
