Came for a family meal and my first thoughts were it was very clean, well decorated, a nice warm welcoming from the staff. My family were seated a lovely big table with comfy seating and lovely cushions I wanted to keep! Followed by a nice glass of wine and excellent food-traditional Scottish and English classics, fresh local fish and some specials= spoilt for choice! Fantastic food & drink experience!!

Fabulous meal and surroundings and what an extensive menu. Spoilt for choice, local traditional dishes to selections from far and wide. Beautifully cooked food, fresh and tasty and excellent value. Friendly and on the ball waiting staff, top class chef can't wait until my next visit to the Mains.

love this place, 10 mins walk from my house.
Beautiful building, good food and reasonably priced.
They seem to do a huge amount of charity and community work, nice to see a local business putting our hard earned and spent money to good use.

I've always liked the Mains, and visit regularly to get my fill of their delicious pub grub, as well as to enjoy the surroundings and the company. I often stick to the same meal when I eat out, but I've found recently that the dynamic menu at the Mains makes me want to try new tastes - I've never been disappointed. I love the tucked away, hidden feel of the place and the historic building creates a really nice atmosphere in the heart of the Bridge of Don. Highly recommended for good value, great servive and a friendly welcome.

Just had an absolute cracker of a high tea at the Mains, the food was as always fantastic and the service was good. Ever the boss was out serving drinks and pulling pints!!
Well done again.

Had a meal at the mains of scotstown the other week and was pleansantly surprised. Service was a little slow but since it was busy didnt mind the wait and when the food arrived the whole table thoroughly enjoyed it and even treated ourselves to chocolate fondants for pudding

Went to the mains of scotstown a couple of weeks ago with the family. Was a little bit dubious about going as i had heard and read mixed reviews on the place. But from the moment i walked into the restaurant i was pleasantly surprise. We was greeted by a friendly waitress when we walked though the door and was taken to our table where our drink order was taken and given menus. We ordered our food and when our food arrived it was really nice and you could tell that it was freshly made and homemade chips my favourite. I felt that is was a very nice relaxing atmosphere and didnt fill rushed at any point and will be back.

chosen by the husband as an anniversary treat, and I can safely say it WAS a treat. Indeed I was impressed. very presentable building inside and out, the food was lovely and the service was attentive and personable. Thank you for a memorable evening.

Seldom do you get value for money in a restaurant anymore, though some places still do offer this unusual offering of value!. The polite staff and intimate feel of the place is exceeded only by the good of food. An ever changing menu ensures that revisiting gives you new choices each time. The soups are amazing and the main meal is freshly prepared every time...maybe the reason some reviewers have said the service is slower... People have no patience these days, everyone is in such a hurry. Great value for great food.

Worst pub grub ever, everything over cooked or reheated. Too much of the micro being used I would say. Restaurant prices, sorry just bad pub grub.

Had a lovely dinner at the Mains food was good and so was the service. Staff were polite and helpful. Place had a nice homely feel, have read reviews that say the service was slow however it felt steadily paced and relaxing I liked that we were not rushed out the door.
The food was not the cheapest I've had but you can tell that it's all homemade, well worth the wait I'd say.
The toilets are a bit dated but the smell fresh and were clean.
We will definitely be paying them another visit.

Just the worst pub food ever. Over cooked or reheated. No atmosphere cause there is no one else there.

We had a very enjoyable meal. Service could not have been any better - there when you needed it, space when you didn't. Food was lovely - fabulous starters (Spear & shrooms and pork/black pudding scotch egg), great steak super-tender rare and tasty. Only slight improvement would be - Some bread before your meal would be nice, some good restaurants we've been to in the past do it and its a nice way to start your meal without having to scoff your starter down cos your starvin. Steak was also served with a tasty dianne sauce. Simple but very good. The cheapest red by the glass was excellent.... No space for desert, but home-made shortbread was excellent - waitress snaffled us 4 extra for the journey home! Will definitely go back - was only 50 quid for 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 large glasses of wine.

Had a meal there last night. My son had the Scotch Egg to start, well over cooked or reheated (awful)
My husband had the Moules Marinier to start which was nice.
I had the roast beef dinner, one of the specials (I have done better myself and I'm no chef) I did ask for the welldone part of the roast, the meat was tough, and you really had to cut through. The yorkies certainly were not freshly made, must have been reheated or in the micro. The other mains were Monkfish Scampi (which was rather dry and the chips over cooked) and the Buffalo Chicken, (over cooked chips also)
The three desserts were fine.
At the end of the main course the waitress asked how our meal was. I told her I was disappointed with the beef and yorkies, on her return (after a word with the chef) she said the beef was tough because I had asked for the well done part. SO IT WAS MY FAULT! Really.
Our bill for food £67.19. Which I don't grudge, if I can walk out and say, well that was worth every penny.
Sorry Mains we will vote with our feet and won't be back.

Went the restaurant with the wife and kids last night, we were the first in though quiet to start with the room fairy filled up quick and the atmosphere was relaxing. the food was good and the service was smooth. As a parent I must say I was delighted to see that the staff converse with children easily and without fuss.
Food Service and restaurant were all good 10/10.

I was told to try out this newly refurbished restaurant that my friend had heard of which had recently new owners. Money well spent, I had a terrific meal there, compliments to the manager I think his name was Martin or Mark, anyway he was very customer friendly and was very funny...! I'll be back soon and I'll certainly recommend
