• I went into Joan's for the first time on Thursday 21/11/2013. I was looking for a knitting pattern for a poncho. I was greet with a smile and ask if I required help. The assistant found me all the patterns that they had which was 5 or 6, and left me to decide which I liked. Then when I found the one I wanted, she showed me the different yarns and colours which they had to knit the garment. I bought the pattern, yarn and needles. The assistant was helpful, pleasant, friendly and very attentive (without being overwhelming). I phoned a few days later when I realised that I required some more yarn and asked them to put me 2 more balls a side for me and they did. I went to pick these up Friday of that week, when I bought another pattern for a aran coat. I started this coat that night and I got to the pattern Saturday morning. Part of the pattern said bind 3, the way it was written in the abbreviations, it put two stitches on to the row but only took one off. I went on to google and put in bind 3 put I would not come up with the abbreviation. So I phoned Joan's and explained, assistant looked at the pattern and said that she would have to knit it to be able it, to work it out. I phoned back about one hour later, she told me that there was a miss print on the pattern and told me which bit to cross out and that they would be sending the patterns back and apologised for the inconvenience, although it was not they fault in my opinion. This is what I call going beyond the call of duty. From where I live it is a 28 miles round trip but well worth it just for the friendly service.
