• We went to the Bervie Chipper, Inverbervie last night(27/06/12) & had 2xcod suppers. I was really looking forward to it as i'd heard so much about how good it was! Well, it has put me off fish & chips for life! Never again! The grease was literally dripping off the fish, the out side of the batter was over cooked whilst the inside was mushy. The cod was grey not white. The chips were limp & tasted burnt(I suspect that was because the fat was old & needed changing)My hubby loves onion rings but the ones he got were frozen not homemade even though the place has batter just sitting there. They were also greasy & most went in the bin. To top it off we asked for two small bottles of coke & they came out of the chiller warm! Just in case you might think this is just someone hard to please, we went down to the carpark near the caravan park to eat watching the sea & spoke to another couple in their car who were in the chippy same time as us. They said much the same as us about the burnt taste & the grease but the worrying thing was, they said it was an improvement on the last time they went!!! How bad must that have been! They also wont be back. My advice would be don't waste your money. If you want really good fish & chips then go a bit further & try theAshvale restaurant in Brechin which is REALLY good or the Tuck Inn in Edzell which is also good. I'm afraid the Bervie Chipper is not just bad it's atrocious.The one star rating is nothing to do with the food,it's for the wee girl who served us,she had a smile.
