• Nice atmosphere, good service and food, prices reasonable, we will go again, especially to the carvery. It is quiet, I think this is due to previous owner, thankfully he is no longer running the place.

• Have visited the Fox on two ocassions recently.Each time the food was of a very good quality,was well presented and excellent value for money.The pub was quiet but I'm sure when the word gets around business will increase. I would thoroughly recommend it.

• This place used to be great before it burned down - great choice, great service great value. What more could you want. These days the service is poor , value is poor and the menu is limited – carvery or just a few other dishes that are hit and miss in terms of quality. We used to go several times a week before it burned down but after a recent visit will never go again. The grubby barman (looked like he’d just come off a building site) took our food order first, delivered it to kitchen then took our drinks order. I have been specific here for a reason as you will see later. After about 5 minutes he came over and told us they had run out of both fish and chips – really I ask you! As there was nothing else on the menu I fancied (very limited choice as mentioned already)we decided to leave. We thought it reasonable to make a case to not be charged for the beer and water we had taken 2 sips of – after all we were there for the food that they didn’t have and we should have been told when we ordered (remember he went to the kitchen before taking our drinks order) so we asked the barman but it fell on deaf ears. We explained the above and still nothing. Interestingly the owner was just 2 feet away, overheard everything and said nothing. How often do I hear about pubs closing and restaurants having a hard time? Perhaps because they have no clue about customer service! Here we are, a couple that eat out 3 times a week at lunch times and most evenings but for the sake of about £4 they lose us – unbelievable! Well we won’t be going again. The Blue Bell at Ackworth is about a mile away – great food, great service, great choice and guest beers. The Fox and Hounds is rarely full but the Blue Bell always does a good trade – there’s a very good reason for that. Our advice is go there instead
