• Having arrived in Ilfracombe a few hours earlier, we thought we'd start our holiday with some good old fish and chips. Rather than getting a take away, we thought we'd sit in the restaurant. The first bad sign was the sticky table and menu, and it just went downhill from there. The food is ridiculously expensive and rubbish quality. £6.50 for an overcooked cheese burger that'd cost £2.50 in any other chip shop. £4.50 for a tiny little microwave pizza. £17.50 for a mixed grill. And despite having a varied menu, half of it wasn't available. We almost left as soon as we saw the prices, but decided to stay because we were tired from a five hour drive here and didn't want the hastle of finding somewhere else to eat. If you happen to be in the same situation, do what we didn't and walk out. For the same price as the meal here, you could eat at one of the many much nicer pubs and restaurants along the promenade. The most laughably disgusting thing that happened, while we were half way through our meal, was a member of staff dragging a stinking, overflowing, fly-indfested wheely bin directly through the restaurant. Honestly couldn't believe our eyes!
