• My partner and I popped in for a meal on Friday evening on the chance they had a table. Although very busy the friendly staff squeezed us in and made us feel very welcome. We shared a starter of garlic mushrooms and they were to die for! Our mains were pan fried duck and grilled salmon, both of which were absolutely delicious. We finally managed to cram in a home made baileys cheesecake for dessert to end the night extremely stuffed but very happy. Would 100% recommend this pub for is value, choice , staff and atmosphere! Also, Cask ale selection perfect for my husband! Will definitely go back, this time with friends! Julie and Simon, Northallerton.

• Excellent food, brilliant service and lovely atmosphere. We called in by chance and what a find! Now regularly come for our Sunday lunch. Thank you to all the staff. Couldn't give higher recommendations.

• We regularly visit the wonderful Hillside Caravan Park in Knayton and have had several meals at the local pub ,The Dog and Gun.Everytime we have been the meals have been wonderful and the staff so friendly and helpful.A visit to this pub is always a highlight of our holiday.

• We went with family friends for a meal. We were well impressed with the home cooked food on offer at a very good price.The landlady Sam was so friendly,The dog and Gun has a warm country feel.Up there with more expensive country pubs but less expensive.Service and value fantastic We will return nextime were up in the north.Well done everyone

• Great village pub . Fantastic food, great value for money.One of the better village pubs.Clean warm and friendly. Everytime were in the area we always use the dog and gun.Best book for food as its that popular

• warm and welcomeing pub fantastic food and really good value too. we are all regular caravaners at hillside caravan site (fantastic camp site) and always book a table at the dog and gun perfect weekend!!!!
