• Nearly two years ago my husband and I needed to rent after selling our house. We knew we had debts that we were going to pay as soon as we received the payment of the sale of our home. We found a lovely property we hoped to rent and explained to Crowstone our situation. They spoke to the landlord and came back to us that he was happy to accept us but we would still have to go through a credit check ( think that was the term used) it was over £200 we explained we couldn't afford to just throw money away. Crowstone assured us that everyone knew our situ and all was happy to accept us. A few days later when we were just about to be made homeless we were told our request had been declined. Now, I know the landlord can be blamed but if makes me wonder if this was an honest move or a blatant scam, either way we were badly let down! We have teenage son and was on our knees. Found a wonderful estate agent nearby who found us a lovely flat and we have been praised as good tenants who keep our new flat in a good order. We renovated a garden of ivy into a beautiful sunspot and are growing veg on our balcony. I'm actually glad Crowstone let us down at the 1st hurdle as if its a guide to how they treat their customers we had a lucky escape.
