• Lovely evening. Met some friends here for a meal last night. The menu was varied, the food was tasty and the service was provided by a young waiter who was very attentive, without pestering every 2 minutes like you get in some places. We all agreed how nice it was, the atmosphere was good, with plenty people and we will definitely go again!

• We sat in the designated restaurant area during what can only be described as a dreadful cabaret act. Not the pub's fault about the cabaret, obviously, but their fault for sure about the filth on the beams above us. Doesn't take much more than a quick whizz round with a feather duster. The landlord assumed he was funny, but even our deadpan expressions during his dull anecdotes didn't dissuade him from bringing on more, his singular wit making him laugh whether anyone else did or not. The food we had before the cabaret was mediocre, lacking in seasoning, and the Chili Beef I had has seen less chili than a can of chicken soup. The drink was, well, drink.

• We had a couple of wonderful meals at the Crown whilst on holiday nearby. Food was great and the Landlord (Steve) was extremely polite and attentive as well as being the sort of character one would hope to find in a country pub.

• The good food was utterly ruined for me by the over-familiar and sexist landlord, who came and sat at our table to tell tasteless jokes. He cloaked his comments with 'humour' but directed some asides to me and I left feeling insulted. I will not be going back. Shame.
