• In Spring 2011 I engaged Cotswold Casements to make eight windows to match the existing windows in my 1930s house (i.e. metal framed, leaded lights). My perception of them was as an old fashioned family-type company with a reputation for quality. Sadly my experience with them was so far from this image it wasn't remotely funny. I experienced a catalogue of errors (wrong stays, lead placed so the panes were not the same size, windows too small for the holes left for them) and poor workmanship (siliconing of a standard my 7 year old nephew could have done, and even when I got them back to cut it all out and do it all again, the standard was still not up to what I would have expected and I had to spend 8 hours tidying it all up myself). Perhaps the most annoying thing was their reluctance to put these things right - I really had to fight with the manager to get things done properly, and found the attitude quite bullying at times. They even started taking me to court because I would not pay the outstanding balance for workmanship which was clearly substandard. All in all it was a disastrous experience which took over a year to get sorted out and I still wasn't happy with the outcome at the end of it. There have got to be other companies out there who offer a better standard of workmanship and service for such a bespoke (and expensive) product - I recommend you search them out rather than use Cotswold Casements.
