• great pub and one that should certainly not be missed if you're from these parts, or just visiting! When you step through the door it feels like you're stepping into the past, and not in an unfriendly locals only kind of way. Ales and ciders are excellent prices for such good quality.

• As a regular I will reply to the lady who has left a review of a pub she obviously didn't even go in! The pub has a small car park and a lot of elderly customers unable to walk any distance. Every day some selfish people leave their cars in the car park and go off walking. Do they really think the 'obviously private' car park is there for their own selfish use and to hell with customers or the Landlords living? Thank goodness we didn't have to put up with your sanctimonious company and you went elsewhere! This pub is superb, a gem as described and rated by every pub, beer and cider guide available today. Not rated by selfish walkers who care only for themselves. And Ian, the Landlord, is also a gem.

• My husband and I had the unlucky opportunity to meet the man who owns the Boat Inn, we were confronted with an extremely angry and unfriendly individual. Unbeknownst to us (there wasn't any sign posted) we parked in his "private" car park before his pub was open for the day, our offer to purchase a pint or a pub lunch once he opened was met with hostility and open aggression. What a sad way to do business and we will be letting as many travellers know about our experience in the hope they will steer clear of this establishment.
