• My family and myself have eaten here regularly over the past couple of years because of the good food and good value for money. However the attitude and lack of manners the two elder staff provide leaves little to be desired. Lack of patience when ordering our meals and when we have had large family afternoons intolerence of the little ones when they make a noise made everyone feel uncomfortable and spoils the meal. I suggest a course in Customer Service to remind the two staff what their actual job role is or a change of career!! We have decided unfortunately that we will not be returning which is a shame because it is a lovely little country pub with great food, pity great service is not included!!!

• Go to the Blue House all the time and I must say the comments below are very untrue of the service I receive every time I go. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is always lovely and the amount you get for your money is great. Would defiantly recommend to all my friends

• Ordered cumberland sausage but got 2 really cheap jumbo sausages. Mash was awful, tasted synthetic. Husband had beef sandwich, chips half raw and gravy on accompanying salad. On plus side he said sandwich was lovely. Gave comments to waitress but may as well not have bothered. Very poor value foe money.

• visited recently, husbands curry only moderate and the service was appalling. Waitress very offhand.

• menu poor food listed not available and the waitress actually said we never have these items no table service for drinks they could not even provide soya sauce when a curry was ordered will not be eating there again

• The food at The Blue House is amazing, you need to try for yourself. the sunday lunch there is to be recommended but you need to book for it atleast a week in advance.

• Recently booked for a family birthday with a party of around 30 people.Linda who looked after my booking was very helpful,even after us making several changes with quest numbers & meals ordered.On the night the food was excellent ,each quest making comment on how good the food was & that they would all return in the future .The timing of the food being served & the service was excellent & all with a smile .Thanks to all the staff for making this special occasion so special for all of us

• Went here for lunch. Ordered a beef lasagne, however when I came to eat the lasagne it seemed to be fairly cold. I put my fork through the middle of it and it was practically frozen. I told the waitress who wasn't very sympathetic at all and she replaced it 5 minutes later with one equally as cold. This put me off eating the whole meal and I left it untouched. When I told the waitress that it was still unedable she was rude and just walked away. When we came to pay for the meal she told us she had taken the meal off the bill and didnt even have the curtosy to say thank you or good bye. Absolutely disgusting service. I will not be returning and I recommend people to venture elsewhere. I do agree with another comment on here that the Castle Eden Inn would have been a muh better choice.

• We have been going to the Blue House twice or three times a week since february 2012 and i can honestlt say that the food and service is excellent. The staff cant do enought to make it an enjoyable expeirence for you. There sunday lunch is expectional value and the service is quick and the food pipeing hot. We took our family there for a birthday party and the staff made it such an special ocassion for us. I can highly recommend a visit to the blue house.

• Attended Durham Gala & told by friends who were there 2011 that this was a nice place. Under new management! Can't cook, won't cook comes to mind, service terrible, food poor & landlady needs sacking/replacing. Customer service/satisfaction does not exist here. This place does not deserve 1 star.

• 2012 Under new management, you can tell! Booked a table for a family reunion cos had a fantastic meal there in 2011. This year waste of money, empty tables everywhere, waitress service very poor, the special steaks inedible & management not willing to accept critisism. Avoid at all cost.

• Very poor service, Staff need training in manners and how to serve food, most food very good, Steak's very tough would not reccomend. Go to Castle Eden Inn for better service.
