• Two recent visits have left a sour taste. On one occasion, barmaid with multi-coloured hair (not to mention, a chip on her shoulder) looked positively indignant at being asked to top up a pint of bitter poured with nearly 2 inches of head - absolutely appalling attitude - and even had the cheek to suggest I'd already drank out of it when it was exactly where she'd plonked the glass down only seconds beforehand with a perfectly flat head that clearly hadn't been disturbed by glass-to-mouth contact. If she represented my business with arrogance like that, she would be met with a P45 and a helping hand to the door, sharpish. Another visit last night found one girl run off her feet serving in the bar while the lad serving the lounge was so preoccupied with playing on his damned phone, the notion of serving waiting customers was clearly alien to him - sad to think they'll both be on the same pay when only one of them is doing any graft. When you do eventually get served (and not by the chap who was still glued to his phone several minutes later), the beer's okay but nothing particularly special; that, in part, can't be helped when accompanied by the dreadful omnipresent whiff that has permeated that building for years. Stale, stale, stale - with some of the worst bar staff I've had the misfortune to encounter in many a year. Positives: it takes cards and does cashback and that alone can sometimes be its saving grace when the cashpoint over the road is empty.
