• Very disappointed in the food. "Fish, chips n mushy peas" when served was actually a large peice of unbreakable batter within which you had to search for some flecks of fish. Nestled up against the 'batter' which was resting on some limp, wet watercress was half a dozen burnt potato wedge type 'chips' and at the far end of the plate there was about 6 peas sat in a runny watery pea juice.We had 3 portions which were all served the same so it wasnt like a one off bad dish! Oh and as for the menu they had no sausage n mash, or veggie tart or chorizo salad or whipped cream which ruled out most of the desserts in fact it was more a case of well tell us what you have got!! But the bottom line was the 'cheesecake'! When it arrived all six of us at our table almost burst into laughter. It looked as though someone had clumsily tried to cut a triangle shape out of a digestive biscuit - yes it was that small! I think the 'biscuit' had then been soaked in water and an elephant had stamped on it because it was the thinnest 'biscuit' base I have ever seen! On top of this they had plonked soemthing that had the consistency of cottage cheese. A kind of curdled texture that was falling off onto the plate. Thye must have squeezed a lemon on it or squirted it with a Jiffy because it did taste of lemon. Laughable! But for the very polite and attentive service of the barmaid, who I did not want to upset, and also not wanting to embarass my fellow diners, I would have dragged the 'chef' out of the kitchen to confront him about the 'crap' food he had served us. Nice beer though!
