• Amazed by the poor review. I'm sure the issues would have been addressed had the owners been informed. I've not eaten here yet,but the pub is like a shining beacon : wonderful Real Ales,amazing range,fantastic real atmosphere produced by very friendly satisfied locals,outstanding landlord who is unassuming and so knowledgeable about his beers. I don't think so many can be so wrong,and I would be the first to criticise if necessary. It isn't necessary,and I would recommend this pub to anyone who values good taste.

• Sunday lunch what can I say. Called to check the times and told to come along. We arrived soon after. Told half hour wait for food after hour we asked at bar. Told food was coming next. Chicken pie in creamy sauce , roast lamb. Chicken pie was very disappointing.well it wasn't really a pie a pastry square on a watery stock of diced veg chicken and bacon the two met on the plate. Was assured the vegetables were not frozen. But why would any chef want to copy dice carrot, peas and corn and add in springle of red peppers and serve unpeeled carrots on the side which were fresh. Landlady did come over and ask if we were happy. We said NO. Her reply was.... Wait for it... We were lucky to get food. I beg to differ. The review of this pub needs no further comment. We spent £20 on two main courses and the food was basic, not as described on the menu. No refund offered or given when requested. I hate to say this but pub are closing everyday. This one might want to consider this when talking to paying customers like we were unreasonable to say we were not enjoying our long wait, disappointing food and her poor attitude.

• Just had Sunday dinner at this pub and it was fantastic. Lots of really tasty meat and fresh veg. The puddings were huge and really tasty. Lots of lovely real Ales also available. So glad we found it because we are so fed up with being ripped off in pubs around here. Well done to The Artichoke, will deffinitely be back!

• Tried this place after someone recommended it, the first time both dishes were horrible. we did try again for Sunday lunch, this was worse and i can honestly say it was the worst food i have ever had in a restaurant, avoid at all costs, pub is fine though.
